"Would
You Like Kame Hame Ha With That?" by Fade
At FanFiction.Net
Not
so much a Vegeta/Bulma Fic as it is a Vegeta Fic, this one takes a
great idea and presents it well. Bulma, fed up with sponging off of
her father's Capsule Corp. fortune, demands that Vegeta get a job
and bring home a paycheck like a normal husband (if he could ever
be considered as such). What ensues can only be described as flat
out funny. This is because, my friends, our hapless Saiyan Prince
is about to tackle the Golden Arches...
Now, come on. We all want to know what would happen if Vegeta were
to get a job. Frankly, we all have to admit that if we lived in the
DBZ Universe, and we worked in an office building accross the street
where someone like Vegeta were to get a job, wouldn't we have a "Who's
the weird guy gonna kill next Poll?" Will it be the manager?
Or the sassy teenage chicks managing the counter? Will he destroy
the drive thru, or blast the fry vats? What's not to anticipate?
This one's a bit further into DBZ than I'm used to, as Trunks is already
mobile on his own, and Goten has been born as well. I haven't seen
the Buu saga yet, nor have I seen GT. But I do understand their characters.
For example, Trunks is much different than Mirai Trunks. Mirai Trunks
is shy yet wise. This Trunks is a spoiled brat, thanks to his mother,
and in part to his father, really...
This one was well written. It actually read like something I'd be
inclined to write, so I settled right in. Fade has a great writing
style. The story moves well, and his cliffs are quite amusing and
leave you anxious for the next part. The classic "Get a Job"
model is well used, too. Alot of DBZ fans would love to see Vegeta
pounding the sidewalks looking for applications. Just like we all
did. Ha ha.
Along the way, Fade's author notes seem to suggest that he isn't as
happy as he could be with the story. While I know it's not my place
to judge that sentiment, I feel that a statement like that isn't really
necessary. Fade is a very good writer, and his humor is great. I found
the story very funny! This statement, however, doesn't detract at
all from the story, or my impression of it. I found it to be great.
This one's a deffinate keeper on my list, and if you like good FanFiction,
I'd say it belongs on your list, too. This one is lots of fun, and
even has our favorite hipster/monk, Krillin!
